The Grants lived in the Grantown area on the Spey River south of Elgin.

The marriage records for David Grant and Margaret Grant were included in both the Duthil and the Cromdale and Inverallan parish records (opposite).

It was normal to have the Banns read in both churches, my interpretation is that the actual marriage was on Saturday 18th July 1807 at Margaret's church at Duthil and that David was from Cromdale - probably Grantown - where the Banns had been read on Wednesday 1st July 1807.

Based on this, I looked for Margaret's birth in Duthil and found a christening on the 14th FEB 1784 at DUTHIL AND ROTHIEMURCHUS, Inverness, Scotland. Father JOHN GRANT and Mother ISOBEL CROOKSHANK (GROS Data: 096/B0 0001).

Similarly David's most likely birth (the only David born in Cromdale from 1770 to 1790) is 27/03/1779, David GRANT to Alexander GRANT and Lillias STEWART, CROMDALE AND INVERALLAN (GROS Data: 128/B0 0002)

While this is insufficient to absolutely prove the connection, this record fits well with both her expected birth date and birth place.
